Alternate Universe

Alternate Universe fiction takes place in a world that is "one decision removed" from our own. The author takes one point in history which is considered pivotal, writes about what might have been had that event turned out in some way other than what actually happened. Some well-known alternative universe novels place Germany having won the Second World War, or the South winning the Civil War.
